What to do if Your Home’s Siding is Torn Off

What to do if Your Home’s Siding is Torn Off

Nov 06, 2020

The fall and winter months have the potential to bring severe weather to the area. From strong wind to snow and sleet, you never know what’s coming next.

In the event that your home suffers damage, there are some things you should and shouldn’t do. For example, here’s what you can do if your home’s siding is torn off:

•    Assess the damage: This will give you a better idea of what you’re up against. Did you lose the majority of your siding? Just a few pieces? Regardless, it never hurts to collect the siding that’s blown away, as you may be able to reuse it.

•    File a home insurance claim: This depends largely on the extent of the damage, but it’s something to strongly consider if it’s going to cost a lot to replace it.

•    Call in a professional: You may be able to handle minor repairs on your own, but if it’s anything beyond that you should call a professional. Not only does this ensure that you end up with a result you can be proud of, but it also keeps you safe.

It’s your hope that your home makes it through the winter months without damage, but if something goes wrong you need to take the appropriate action at the right time.
