How to Keep Your Home Cool This Summer

With hot summer temperatures on the way, it’s a good idea to have a plan on how you’ll keep your home cool.

There are many steps you can take to maintain a comfortable living environment, even as temperatures near triple digits. Consider the following:

•    Use your AC system: If you have central air or a ductless system, it’s the best way to keep your home cool. Of course, it’ll also increase your electricity bill, so consider the trade-off.

•    Check your windows and doors: For example, if your windows and/or doors are letting cool air out and warm air in, it may be time to replace them. Doing so will immediately boost the energy efficiency of your home.

•    Plant trees next to your home: As they mature, they’ll keep the sun off your home, which cools it down. Subsequently, you won’t have to run your AC nearly as much, which will save you money.

When you take one or more of these steps this summer, you’ll find it easier to keep your home cool. And that’s what you want!
