Stay Safe When Inspecting Your Roof

Stay Safe When Inspecting Your Roof

Jul 24, 2020

There may come a point when you need to inspect your roof. Maybe there was a big storm and you suspect damage. Or maybe you want to see if it’s time for a new roof.

Regardless of your reason, there’s something you must remember: your safety is more important than anything else.

Here are some basic tips to follow:

•    Use the right size ladder: For example, if you choose to use a ladder that’s too short to reach your roof, you may find yourself standing on the top step or reaching. Either way, you’re increasing the risk of an accident.

•    Keep an eye on the sky: Don’t inspect your roof in inclement weather, such as rain or strong wind. Doing so can result in you losing your balance.

•    Don’t take risks: For instance, if you can’t see what you’re looking for since the pitch of your roof is too high, head down your ladder and think about your game plan. Taking a risk is never a good idea.

Here’s one last tip to keep in mind: you don’t have to inspect your roof unless you absolutely want to. You’re typically better off calling a professional. Not only do they know what they’re looking at, but they can take all the proper safety precautions to avoid trouble.
