How to Stay Cool When Working Outdoors This Summer

How to Stay Cool When Working Outdoors This Summer

Jul 05, 2018

You wait all winter long for the weather to change, as this allows you to spend more time in the great outdoors. And then something happens: you realize that the heat is too much for you to handle.

While this may hold true at times, it doesn’t change the fact that you still need to spend time outdoors. For instance, there will be times when you need to mow the lawn, pull weeds, or work in your garden.

No matter how hot it is, there are things you can do to remain cool. Here are three ideas to consider:

·      Stay hydrated. It’s not good enough to drink some water after your long day in the yard. Instead, you need to stay hydrated as you’re working. This will go a long way in helping you avoid dehydration (among other related ailments).

·      Wear the appropriate clothing. It’s critical to wear breathable clothing, as you don’t want sweat to build up with each passing minute.

·      Take regular breaks. It goes without saying that you want to complete your project sooner rather than later. Even so, regular breaks are an absolute must when the weather heats up. Sit under a tree or go inside for a few minutes. Either way, make sure you give your body plenty of rest during your time in the sun.

Are you in the habit of doing these things to keep cool when working outdoors? Do you have any other tips to share?
